Classic knitwear in exclusive alpaca, lambs & angora wool. CHALECA collaborates closely with knitters in Bolivia to ensure fair deals & quality that last.
CHALECA strives to generate better incomes for knitters in Bolivia while we are providing lasting exclusive knitwear. The brand collaborates closely with a group of knitters outside La Paz in Bolivia to ensure high quality garments and fair payments to the women.
The brand is built on the principles of respect for the tradition of crafts and design, respect for the producers, respect for the environment, and respect for the consumer in terms of quality that lasts.
The alpaca yarn is spun and dyed at the local spinning mill Coproca Bolivia. The alpaca animals graze freely in the Bolivian highlands. The suppliers of the fibre only use hand shearing technique for taking the fibre from the animals, which is not harmful.
The spinning mill uses eco-friendly washing and dyeing processes. For washing the fibers a detergent approved according to Öko-Tex standard 100 is used. The colorants used are the same kind we use ourselves when dyed by hand in Sweden, without any harmful chemicals for our knitters, customers or environment.
